Etihad Airways manage booking
What you can change online depends on your fare family and who issued the ticket.
Note
Airlaza is an independent IATA and ARC accredited agency, not Etihad Airways. Fares, fees and conditions are set by the airline and change without notice — the figures shown in your own booking are the ones that apply. Confirm at the airline's own site before you travel.
Etihad Manage Booking — at etihad.com/manage or in the Etihad app — opens with your surname plus your trip reference or ticket number, and lets you change flights, cancel and claim a refund, buy seats and extra baggage, bid for an upgrade, add meals and assistance, and check in. Fees follow your fare brand: Value, Comfort or Deluxe. Talk it through with Airlaza: +1-888-890-4009, 24/7.

What Etihad's Manage Booking actually lets you do
Etihad calls the panel Manage my booking, and it is the single place the airline routes almost every post-purchase task to. Inside it you can update contact details, buy extra checked baggage, choose or change seats, place a bid for an upgrade to Business or First, order a special meal, request wheelchair or medical assistance, add your Etihad Guest number so miles credit correctly, complete online check-in and download a boarding pass.
Two things it will not do. It will not override the fare conditions filed against your ticket — Etihad brands its cabins as Value, Comfort and Deluxe fares, and the same Change button produces a different bill depending on which one you hold. And it will not service a ticket somebody else issued. Etihad's own instruction, repeated across its help centre, is that if you booked through a travel agent or a third-party website and the ticket has been issued, you go back to them for changes and refunds.
Everything else — check-in, seats, bags, meals, assistance — usually still works on an agent ticket, because those are airline services rather than ticket transactions.
Finding your booking: reference, ticket number or Etihad Guest
Etihad's retrieve form takes your trip reference or ticket number together with the last name exactly as it appears on the ticket. The trip reference is the short alphanumeric code on your confirmation email; the ticket number is the 13-digit e-ticket number.
That ticket number is the more reliable of the two on a complicated booking, and it carries a useful tell. Etihad Airways' IATA numeric ticketing code is 607, so a genuine Etihad-issued e-ticket begins 607. If the number on your document starts with anything else, the ticket was plated on another carrier — a codeshare partner, or the operating airline on a sector Etihad only markets — and Etihad's own panel may not be the right place to service it.
The third route is signing in to Etihad Guest. Bookings made while logged in attach to the account automatically, and this is the only path that surfaces Saver Award redemptions and miles-paid upgrades for management. The membership surname and the ticket surname must match, or the booking will not appear.
Changing flights: fare brands, the service fee and the 96-hour rule
Etihad sells branded fares in each cabin — Value, Comfort and Deluxe in Economy, and Value, Comfort and Deluxe in Business, with some markets also offering a stripped hand-baggage fare. The brand, not the cabin, decides what a change costs.
On top of any fare difference, Etihad applies a flat Global Service Fee, and it is one of the few genuinely universal numbers the airline publishes.
| Element of an Etihad change | What Etihad publishes |
|---|---|
| Global Service Fee, Economy bookings | Flat USD 30 per segment, non-refundable |
| Global Service Fee, Business and First bookings | No service fee |
| Change made within 96 hours of departure | Additional 10% fee |
| Fare difference, new flight costs more | Payable by you |
| Fare difference, new flight costs less | Difference refunded to you |
| Change fee itself | Varies by route and fare brand; quoted before you confirm |
Three practical points. First, the USD 30 is charged per segment, so a two-sector itinerary carries it twice. Second, the 96-hour surcharge is a real cliff edge — moving a flight four days out costs measurably less than moving it three days out. Third, "no service fee in Business" does not mean free changes; a Business Value fare can still carry a change fee that a Business Deluxe fare does not.
Cancellation and refunds: the 24-hour window and how long money takes
Etihad operates a 24-hour cancellation policy on direct bookings: if you booked at least seven days before departure, cancelling within 24 hours of purchase returns a full refund. That mirrors the US Department of Transportation rule but Etihad applies it to direct bookings generally, not only US-originating ones.
Outside that window, refunds are requested through Manage my booking and priced by fare brand, with the same USD 30 Economy service fee and the same 96-hour 10% surcharge applying. Involuntary cases — Etihad cancels the flight or makes a significant schedule change — are exempt from the service fee.
| Refund question | Etihad's published answer |
|---|---|
| Free cancellation window | Within 24 hours of purchase, if booked 7+ days before departure |
| Refund to credit or debit card | Within 21 days |
| All other payment types | Up to 45 working days |
| Tracking a refund | Refund status page, using your ARN reference |
| Still nothing after 45 days | Etihad's advice: check with your bank or card issuer first |
| Service fee on involuntary refunds | Not applied |
Refunds go back through the original payment channel, which matters if the card you paid on has since expired or been reissued — the money still lands on the account, not the plastic.
Seat selection: zones, extra legroom and Economy Neighbour-Free
Etihad restructured Economy seating into forward, middle and rear zones with differentiated pricing, and the free-at-check-in window that used to open 30 hours out is no longer the reliable fallback it once was. Seats can now be reserved from the moment you book.
| Seat option | How it works in Manage my booking |
|---|---|
| Standard seat, Comfort or Deluxe fare | Reserved free |
| Standard seat, other fares | Chargeable; price varies by zone and cabin |
| Extra legroom, exit row, bulkhead | Chargeable; free on a Choice Plus fare, subject to availability |
| Extra legroom, Etihad Guest Platinum | Free for the member, 50% off for up to nine guests |
| Extra legroom, Etihad Guest Gold | 50% off for up to two guests |
| Extra legroom, Etihad Guest Silver | 30% off on one seat |
| Economy Neighbour-Free | Keep one, two or three adjacent seats empty; sold 72 hours to 4 hours before departure |
Economy Neighbour-Free is Etihad's own product and has no direct equivalent at most Gulf carriers: you are buying the empty seat beside you rather than a bigger seat. Availability depends on aircraft configuration and how many passengers are on the booking, which is why Etihad only opens sales 72 hours out — it needs a near-final load figure first.
Adding baggage after booking
Etihad is unusually explicit about the saving on pre-purchased bags: buying online rather than at the airport counter saves up to 65%, and the discounted rate is available at etihad.com/manage up to 30 hours before departure. After that you are paying counter prices.
| Baggage item | Etihad's published allowance or rule |
|---|---|
| Cabin bag, Economy | 1 bag, max 7kg, max 56 x 36 x 23cm |
| Cabin bags, Business, First and The Residence | 2 bags, combined up to 12kg, plus a smaller bag up to 5kg |
| Checked, Economy to/from US or Canada (excluding the basic fare) | 2 bags up to 23kg each |
| Checked, Business, First and The Residence to/from US or Canada | 2 bags up to 32kg each |
| Extra baggage bought online, most routes | +15kg additional allowance (excludes US and Canada) |
| Extra baggage bought online, US and Canada routes | 1 extra bag up to 23kg Economy, 32kg Business or First |
| Maximum weight, any single piece | 32kg |
| Online purchase deadline | 30 hours before departure |
Note the split system: routes to and from North America run on the piece concept, everything else largely on weight. That is why the extra-bag product looks different on a New York flight than on a London or Delhi one, and why a single "Etihad extra bag price" does not exist.
Meals, assistance and unaccompanied minors
Every request in this group has its own lead time, and Etihad's are not all the same distance from departure. Miss the window and the request cannot be guaranteed.
| Request | Etihad's published deadline or rule |
|---|---|
| Special meal | At least 24 hours before departure |
| Children's and some other special meals | Only on flights longer than 2 hours 50 minutes |
| Wheelchair assistance | At least 48 hours before departure |
| MEDIF form and medical report | At least 72 hours before departure |
| On-board oxygen | At least 72 hours before departure; medical certificate at check-in, 1 hour minimum |
| Infant bassinet | Baby under 11kg and up to 75cm; subject to availability |
| Unaccompanied Minor service, ages 5–11 | Free on a normal adult fare if pre-booked before airport arrival |
| Unaccompanied Minor service, ages 12–17 | USD 100 each way direct; USD 150 each way connecting |
| Children under 5 | Cannot fly alone; must be with an adult on the same flight and in the same cabin |
Etihad's on-board oxygen is offered at 1, 2, 3 or 4 litres per minute across all three cabin zones, with 4L/min not always available on the longest sectors — a detail worth confirming by phone rather than assuming from the online form.
Agent-issued tickets: what Etihad will and won't service
If an agency issued your ticket, the electronic document sits under that agency's ticketing authority in the GDS it was created in. Etihad states plainly that changes and refunds on third-party and travel-agent bookings go back to the point of purchase.
The division is clean in practice. Etihad will still let you retrieve the booking, pick and pay for seats, buy extra baggage, order a meal, request assistance, add your Etihad Guest number, check in and download a boarding pass. Etihad will not reissue the ticket or process the refund, because it does not hold the rights to touch the coupon.
This is where an accredited agency earns its keep. Where Airlaza issued the ticket, we hold those reissue rights and deal with Etihad directly: we price the change fee, the USD 30 service fee where it applies and the fare difference in writing before anything is confirmed, and we file the refund ourselves rather than leaving you in a queue. One call settles it.
Where Manage Booking stops: codeshare, groups, awards and upgrades
Four booking types behave differently, and knowing which one you hold saves an hour of clicking.
Codeshare and partner-operated sectors. Etihad limits several products to its own metal — Priority Access is Etihad-operated flights only, and upgrades are available only on flights both marketed and operated by Etihad. A ticket plated 607 but flown by a partner will show fewer options.
Groups. Etihad routes bookings of ten or more passengers to a travel agent rather than the online panel, and group contracts carry their own change and name-change terms.
Upgrades. Bids can be placed up to four hours before departure and paid with a card or Etihad Guest Miles. Critically, the original ticket's fare conditions survive the upgrade — cancellation rules, change fees, baggage allowance and miles accrual all stay at the fare you bought. Upgrade at the airport instead and Etihad Chauffeur is not available.
Saver Award redemptions. Etihad Guest rebranded GuestSeat to Saver Award and now applies Value, Comfort and Deluxe bundles to award tickets too. The following grid was reported by One Mile at a Time in November 2025 and is not quoted from an Etihad help page — check the live figures in your Etihad Guest account before relying on it.
| Saver Award bundle | Change, more than 72 hours out | Cancellation, more than 72 hours out | Within 72 hours of departure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Value | AED 600 | Non-refundable | No change or cancellation |
| Comfort | AED 200 | 25% of miles redeemed forfeited | No change or cancellation |
| Deluxe | Free | Free | No change or cancellation |
Frequently asked questions
Can I change my Etihad flight online?
Yes, if Etihad issued the ticket. Sign in at etihad.com/manage with your last name and trip reference or ticket number, then select the flight. If a travel agent or third-party site issued the ticket, Etihad directs you back to them, because they hold the reissue rights.
How much does it cost to change an Etihad flight?
Etihad charges a flat, non-refundable Global Service Fee of USD 30 per segment on Economy bookings, and none on Business or First. Changes inside 96 hours of departure add a further 10%. A fare-brand change fee and the fare difference sit on top, both varying by route.
Can I choose seats for free on Etihad?
Only on some fares. Comfort and Deluxe fares include free standard seat selection; other fares pay, priced by forward, middle or rear zone. Extra legroom seats are chargeable, but Etihad Guest Platinum members get one free, Gold members save 50% and Silver members save 30%.
How do I add baggage to an Etihad booking after booking?
Buy it at etihad.com/manage or in the app. Etihad sells extra allowance online at a discount of up to 65% against airport counter rates, and the online window closes 30 hours before departure. Most routes add 15kg; US and Canada routes add one extra piece instead.
Can I cancel an Etihad flight and get a refund?
Yes. Booked at least seven days ahead and cancelling within 24 hours of purchase gives a full refund on direct bookings. Otherwise the refund follows your fare brand, less the USD 30 Economy service fee. Card refunds take up to 21 days, other payment types up to 45 working days.
Can I change the name on an Etihad ticket?
Etihad tickets are strictly non-transferable to another person. Title amendments and genuine typing errors of up to three characters are corrected free. Other corrections — maiden to married name, adding a middle name, a legal deed poll change — cost USD 100, or AUD 150 on tickets bought in Australia.
Why can't I find my Etihad booking?
Usual causes: the surname does not match the ticket exactly, you are entering an agency file reference instead of Etihad's trip reference, or the ticket was never issued. Check the ticket number too — a genuine Etihad e-ticket begins 607, and anything else was plated by another airline.
Can I upgrade through Etihad Manage Booking?
Yes. Etihad's bid-for-upgrade tool accepts offers up to four hours before departure, payable by card or Etihad Guest Miles, on flights Etihad both markets and operates. Your original fare conditions survive the upgrade — cancellation terms, change fees, baggage and miles accrual all stay as originally purchased.
How late can I make changes in Etihad Manage Booking?
It depends on the task. Extra baggage closes 30 hours out, Economy Neighbour-Free sells between 72 and four hours out, upgrade bids close at four hours, and check-in shuts one hour before departure. Any flight change inside 96 hours attracts Etihad's additional 10% fee.
What is Etihad Guest and do I need it to manage a booking?
Etihad Guest is the airline's loyalty programme, with Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Emerald tiers. You do not need it for a normal cash booking — surname plus reference is enough. You do need to be signed in to manage Saver Award redemptions or miles-paid upgrades.

We are an independent IATA and ARC accredited agency. Every quote states the fare family, the change and cancellation terms and whether a refund is cash or voucher — in writing, before you pay. No card details are taken on this site.
